What is the TKWW Global User Reviews Policy?

Policy Introduction

At The Knot Worldwide (TKWW), we believe reviews are essential to building trust between couples and event professionals. Our review spaces exist to reflect the truest possible representation of a user's authentic experience, empowering prospective clients of an event professional to make confident, informed decisions.

Our User Review Policy is intentionally designed with higher standards of authenticity and relevance. Only verified clients (as defined below) and wedding-related event experiences are eligible for review on our platforms. This ensures feedback reflects genuine client-vendor interactions within this specific event context. Therefore, TKWW may request valid documentation from both parties to ensure review eligibility. This helps us preserve the integrity of our review spaces by providing clients a more reliable, event-specific view of vendor performance, while giving event professionals confidence that the feedback they receive is relevant and fairly representative of their event business.

TKWW does not author, edit, or publish user-submitted review content and is therefore not responsible for the opinions or statements expressed within reviews. Each user is solely responsible for the content they post.

Some storefronts may include reviews originally posted on third-party platforms (such as Google). This policy applies only to reviews submitted directly to TKWW platforms. With regards to third-party reviews:

  • Event professionals may choose to remove all third-party reviews from their TKWW storefronts, but cannot remove individual reviews.
  • TKWW cannot accept Review Disputes for any reviews originating on third-party platforms. Please refer to the relevant third-party website to understand the terms governing those reviews.
  • Reviews imported from third-party platforms do not count toward award eligibility on TKWW sites.

General Review Guidelines

Our User Review Policy encourages clients to share honest, constructive feedback that reflects their authentic experience with an event professional's services, conduct, and interactions. All first-hand client feedback—whether positive, neutral, or negative—is allowed, provided it complies with this policy.

If any violation of this policy occurs, TKWW reserves the right to take any of the Enforcement Actions (listed below) that we deem appropriate, including, but not limited to account termination when necessary.

Who May Leave a Review

To be eligible to leave a review on TKWW storefronts, the reviewer must be a verified client of the event professional, regardless if they initially connected on a TKWW platform or not. In this policy, we define clients as any of the following:

  • Any party involved in an official business contract with the event professional
  • Any party who has valid proof of payment for services (not including initial business encounters such as interviews, tours, tastings, trial services, etc.)
  • The couple getting married, as long as their names appear on the contract/proof of payment.

TKWW may request valid documentation from parties to ensure client eligibility. Any individual falling outside of this definition is not considered a client and is not eligible to leave a review.

When Clients May Leave a Review

The experience may or may not include products or services delivered on the event date itself. For this reason, clients may submit a review at any point once becoming a client, before the event or up to two years after the event. This includes if services were terminated before the scheduled event.

Event Eligibility Requirements

  • The event must be wedding-related (e.g., weddings, engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, Sangeet, etc.).
  • The review may not focus solely on introductory business encounters such as tastings, trial services, interviews, tours, etc.
  • The wedding-related event must have occurred within the last two years of the review's submission date.

Violating Content

Reviews must not include any content, including text, emojis, photos, or links, that are documented as illegal by a relevant authority, or contain:

  • Any profanity, including censored profanity
  • Obscene or sexually explicit material
  • Hateful or discriminatory content based on someone's race/color/ethnicity, religion, national origin/immigration status, disability or serious health condition, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/gender expression, marital/family/pregnancy status, veteran status, age, caste or any other characteristic protected under applicable law
  • Abusive, degrading, menacing, or threatening content, (e.g. harassment, name-calling, threats of violence)
  • Any content that is found to be verifiably false supported by objective documentation
    • Disagreements, differing opinions or perspectives, differences in recollection, minor discrepancies or clarifications such as incorrect event dates, names, or other claims that cannot be disproved with objective documentation do not qualify as verifiably false violating content.
  • Private identifying information, including but not limited to: full names, dates of birth, addresses (outside of public business addresses), medical information, etc.
  • Any content or materials that are copyrighted, trademarked or otherwise protected intellectual property under applicable law without the owner's consent
  • Duplicate content, which we define as content from a previously posted review or from a client that has already reviewed the event professional
  • Spam, promotional material, or irrelevant content not based on a first-hand personal service experience

If any violation of this policy occurs, TKWW reserves the right to take any of the Enforcement Actions (listed below) that we deem appropriate, including, but not limited to account termination when necessary.

Photo Guidelines

In addition to not containing any violating content, photos attached to reviews must adhere to the following:

  • Must not be images of any contracts, email or message exchanges, paperwork, or other majority text-based content.
  • Collages must not exceed two images per file.
  • Minimum image size: 300px by 300px.
  • Must depict or directly relate to the review content.
  • Must be of sufficient quality to reasonably show connection to the service or experience.

Refunds and Reviews

We understand that refunds and review experiences sometimes overlap, especially when clients and vendors disagree about how services were delivered or whether a refund is appropriate. While TKWW may evaluate relevant documentation, including contracts, as part of our Dispute process, this evaluation is limited to confirming that a valid commercial relationship existed, and to provide context for evaluating a review's content eligibility under our policy.

TKWW is not a party to refund negotiations and does not mediate, enforce, or determine the fairness of refund agreements between clients and event professionals.

Our Review Policy focuses only on whether a review follows our guidelines, and our Dispute decisions are not influenced or determined by any refund negotiation, request, denial, or payment dispute. This means:

  • Refunds don't determine review eligibility. Whether a client negotiates, receives, requests, or is denied a refund doesn't affect their right to share an honest review, as long as the review meets our content standards.
  • Refunds don't erase experiences. A client's experience — positive, negative, or neutral — remains valid and can still be shared in a review, even if a refund or partial refund was issued at any time.
  • Negotiating a refund doesn't make a review invalid. We recognize that clients and event professionals may negotiate payments or resolutions before or after a review is posted. Engaging in these discussions or negotiations does not, on its own, violate our policy or undermine a review's authenticity.

If an event professional or client reaches a private agreement that includes a refund, the client is welcome to update their review to reflect that resolution, but this is entirely optional.

Responses to Reviews

Review Responses are a premium feature for our paid vendors. We recommend that eligible event professionals respond to every review that they receive — good or bad! Responses let others see how event professionals interact with clients, and gives them the opportunity to showcase their professionalism and empathy, even when they disagree or things don't work out as expected. Potential clients value seeing how event professionals handle both praise and criticism. For more tips and suggestions on responding to reviews, see here.

The same content guidelines outlined in this policy apply to Review Responses. Any response that violates this policy may result in enforcement action. If TKWW removes a Review Response, we will inform the event professional of the reason for removal.

Manipulation of Reviews

The integrity of our platforms relies on clients' ability to share genuine feedback. To maintain this trust, any user must not:

  1. Attempt to restrict, influence, discourage, or condition a client's right to post a review in any way. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of non-disparagement clauses in contracts or withholding contracted products or services until a favorable review is provided.
  2. Post or attempt to post a review on their own storefront.
  3. Arrange for non-clients to post a review.
  4. Create or arrange the creation of inauthentic accounts that misrepresent, impersonate, or fabricate another person, client, or experience.
  5. Solicit or accept multiple reviews from the same client.
  6. Offer cash, compensation, or anything of value in exchange for a review with a prescribed sentiment.
  7. Reproduce feedback from other sites or reuse TKWW reviews on third-party platforms or marketing materials.

If TKWW becomes aware of any of these behaviors or content, we reserve the right to take any Enforcement Action (listed below), including disqualifying an event professional from all TKWW Awards.

Disputes

Event professionals are entitled to submit a one-time Review Dispute if they believe the review violates this policy.

How to File a Dispute

  • [For US] Log in to your WeddingPro dashboard.
    • Choose your relevant storefront by clicking either the WeddingWire or The Knot tab at the top left-hand side of the page.
    • Navigate to the "Reviews" section.
    • Locate the specific review you'd like to dispute.
    • Select the "Dispute" button that appears below the review.
  • [For all other countries] Log in to your Vendor account on the relevant website.
    • Click on the "Reviews" tab then "Reviews" in the left navigation.
    • Scroll down to the review in question and click "Dispute" under the review content.

Once the Review Dispute is submitted, the reviewer may be notified that their review is under evaluation, but they will not see the event professional's dispute reasons, text, or any communication shared directly with the TKWW team.

Next, our team will begin an internal evaluation to determine if the review is in violation of this, any other policy, or our Terms of Use. During our evaluation, we may temporarily hide the disputed review while we make a determination. TKWW may request documentation from both parties, allowing 10 calendar days for a response. If no valid response is received, TKWW may proceed with any appropriate enforcement action.

Our Neutral Role

TKWW's team aims to be a neutral third party between reviewers and event professionals. The team's role is to ensure that reviews are eligible and comply with our Review Policy. We review each dispute individually and take action only if a review:

  • Client eligibility
    • Is written by a non-client or providing second/third-hand perspectives;
  • Event eligibility
    • Is for a non-wedding-related event;
    • Focuses solely on introductory business encounters such as tastings, trial services, interviews, tours, etc.;
    • Reviews an event that took place more than two years ago;
  • Contains violating content as detailed above.

Please remember User Reviews may inevitably contain varying personal opinions and experiences that may or may not be mutually shared by everyone involved. They may also contain statements where individual perspectives, agreements, discrepancies, and recollections differ. Therefore, we do not attempt to validate or invalidate any personal opinions, statements, accusations, experiences, or perspectives involving but not limited to behavior, observations, service quality, pricing, professionalism, or contractual or refund fairness or enforcement. This also means that TKWW does not arbitrate who is "right" or "wrong" in a service disagreement, interaction, or refund decision.

Additionally we do not determine absolute truth or arbitrate conflicting accounts. Instead, we focus on whether a review contains content that can be proven verifiably false through clear, objective documentation. Discrepancies, disagreements, subjective differences in recollection, incorrect event dates, names, or other claims that cannot be proven with objective documentation do not qualify as violating content.

Review Responses are a premium feature for our paid vendors. If an eligible vendor disagrees with any statements in a review, or has a different perspective on the situation, they may post a response to the review in accordance with the policy's guidelines.

Disputes We Do Not Accept

TKWW will only take action on a review if it contains violating content, including information that can be proven verifiably false through clear, objective documentation. This means our team will not accept disputes based on, among other things:

  • Differences of opinion or subjective experiences.
  • Disagreements with the reviewer’s statements or perspective
  • Variations in recollection or interpretation of events
  • Minor discrepancies such as incorrect dates, names, or details.
  • Reviews posted more than 12 months ago. We don’t expect reviewers or event professionals to retain documentation beyond that timeframe.
  • Disagreement with a prior Review Dispute decision. Unless where required by law, reviews can only be disputed once. After the case has been closed, the decision is final and the review is no longer eligible for dispute.
  • Enforcing private contract terms. TKWW is not a party to, and does not enforce private contracts between clients and event professionals, including terms that attempt to restrict or condition a client's ability to post a review. Vendors remain responsible for their own contractual language, and such clauses may impact TKWW award eligibility. Please refer to our Award Terms for more information on eligibility.

Enforcement Actions

We use a combination of automated systems and human agents responding to Review Disputes to monitor review content that may be against our policies.

If a review or review response violates this policy, TKWW reserves the right to take one or more of the following actions, at its sole discretion:

  • Proactively prevent publication of content;
  • Directing the user to resubmit the content to remove any violating content;
  • Removing the entire review, Review Response, and/or photos;
  • Allowing the review content to remain published;
  • Issuing a formal reminder or warning against the user's account;
  • (Vendors only) Revoking any current awards or disqualifying from future TKWW awards;
  • Terminating the user's account from any or all TKWW platforms.
