If you received an email from The Knot but didn’t create an account, someone may have entered your email address when signing up without your knowledge or permission.
We recently identified a spam pattern involving real email addresses being used to create accounts without the email owners’ knowledge.
You don’t need to take any action. We’ve blocked the accounts involved.
Did I actually sign up for The Knot?
No. If you didn’t create the account yourself, you are not signed up for The Knot, and there is no active or visible profile associated with you.
Has my email account been compromised?
No. This does not mean that your email account was hacked or compromised.
Someone entered your email address into our signup form. They did not need access to your email account to do this.
Do I need to change my password?
No. You don’t need to change your password or take any security steps because of this issue.
The account created using your email address has been blocked, and you did not use the account.
As always, we recommend following good security practices for your email account, but no action is required because of these emails.
Will I receive more emails from The Knot?
You may receive one or two additional emails while the account is being blocked. You should not continue receiving activity emails after that.
We’re sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused.
I still have questions. What should I do?
If you have questions or continue receiving emails from The Knot, contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
